Last night several of my Aunts and Uncles came down on their way to Atlanta for my cousin's wedding. While it was way too short, it was so wonderful to get to spend a little bit of time with them. We haven't seen them since I was pregnant with Cameron, so it was so nice for him to get to meet them for the first time.
Cameron was a little shy at first, but by the end of the evening, he was handing out great big hugs and blowing kisses to everyone. What a nice evening.
Last Saturday we had a wonderful morning at Freedom Park. We took a walk around the lake and got to see many many dogs, tiny baby ducks, and even some professional tree climbers...yes. After our walk, Cameron had a picnic lunch and just played. Cameron had his first "official successful peanut butter and jelly sandwich." We've attempted a few bites here and there in the past, but it's never gone well, however this time, Cameron actually ate almost an entire half of the sandwich.
Jelly man coming my way...
Nothing like a PBJ-double-sneezer in the camerawoman's face...
After Easter morning, we spent the afternoon at Grandmom and Granddad's. They just put up a brand new back patio area, so we hung outside most of the afternoon. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had a great time just hanging out and Cameron got to run around all over the backyard. They have a giant hill behind their house and Cameron loves to be held while running up and down the hill. Lots of fun for him....exhausting for Daddy and Mama. Cameron loved his little chair he got from Grandmom and Granddad.
Just relaxing....
Surprise! That is his new favorite face.
After lunch, we headed to the playground on the golf cart. Cameron thinks he is a big boy and was not interested in me holding him on the golf cart and kept trying to peel my fingers off from around his waist. He certainly was not going to win that battle.
We had a fun time at the playground, watching other kiddies and swinging.
Playing on the treacherous slide with daddy.
As you can see, Cameron had a great time on the slide...until it my turn to go down with him. His foot got stuck between me and the slide and while we continued going down the slide, his leg was still pointed up. Needless to say, while the adults nearly had a heart attack, Cameron cried for less than a minute and then was perfectly happy. Thank God he's so bendy! Though I don't think I'll be going down a slide with him any time soon.
Cameron just celebrated his second Easter. We thought we would try to "color" eggs, because he wasn't yet ready for actually dying eggs. Cameron tries to drink out of every cup/bottle he sees, so we didn't want him trying to drink vinegar and food coloring. He did a little bit of coloring with markers and a sticker here and there, but hopefully next year he'll be really into it. We also tried an egg hunt with eggs filled with goldfish as opposed to candy. While he enjoyed the goldfish treasure, he didn't really grasp the "hunt" aspect so much. It took him a bit to find his basket from the Easter Bunny, but he loved the cellophane and Easter basket grass most of all. I'm sure next year will be a whole different story!
Best Easter dancing of ALL time...
Looking for his Easter basket from the Bunny
Eating the goldfish out of his Easter eggs...not so much of a "hunt".
What's this grass-business???
Sweet boy...sweet tummy
Big kiss for Grammy
His new "surprised" face. Getting ready for a bike ride. He got this toy for Christmas, but he's finally big enough to use it!
Still doing "surprised"...while getting some sneaker help from Grampy-G.
Cameron LOVES to tackle people on the floor. All you have to do is lay down and he must run over and jump on your head. He is SUCH a boy.
Cameron just completed his first week of a two week transition into the Toddler classroom at school. I cannot even believe that my little baby is a toddler! In the toddler room they don't use sippy cups, sleep on mats on the floor (which I don't even believe), and, I was warned, are much more "physical". I walked in to pick Cam up on Friday and saw a pile of 3 little blonde heads in a tussle in the middle of the reading carpet, only to see my little pumpkin's grinning face, pop up from the pile, loving every minute of it. I also feel like he's already advancing his verbal skills in just one short week! This is his new word we captured on video this morning...
Mamaw made Cameron a toybox for Christmas and we've been using it to not only store toys, but to also keep him a safe-er distance from the TV. He stands on his slide and leans on the toy box to watch Mickey. His new favorite thing is hoisting himself up onto the toy box. Super dangerous when you have unsteady balance, and an extra-heavy melon, but my little muscle man loves showing off his new move.
Cameron loves exploring and running all over the house with me trailing behind. He especially loves running into our closet and playing peek-a-boo. He tries to close the door, but I prop it open so he can't close it all the way and he loves to peek around the door at me.
Granddad came by late last week to babysit Cameron while I was at an interview. Cameron had a wonderful time. He ate lunch, went for a walk outside, and had fun wrestling on Granddad. He gave Granddad big hugs when he left and even cried...which of course made Granddad's day! :)
Recently, a stomach virus went through Cameron's daycare and Cameron was no exception. He wasn't eating much and vomiting, but other than that, was generally in a pretty good mood. Josh went away on business for 3 nights and unfortunately the stomach bug hit me as well. I was up all night throwing up and called Granddad at the crack of dawn to come help me because I couldn't stop throwing up and couldn't take care of Cameron. Granddad rushed over and took care of Cameron for the day/evening so that I could get to the doctor and get some rest, and helped me get Cameron to the pediatrician. Granddad was so helpful and by evening I was feeling much much better! (What better way to say "thank you", than passing along the virus to Granddad...sorry about that. :( )
Cameron was so sweet and gave Graddad big hugs around his neck!
Cameron loved reading bedtime stories with Granddad.
