Two weekends ago we went to the North Carolina Transportation Museum
for a Day Out With Thomas the Train. Cameron has never seen any Thomas
the Train shows and didn't know who he was, but loves all things
"transportation"...buses, trucks, cars, airplanes, helicopters,
trains...so we figured it would be worth the trek out there. That
turned out to be an understatement. The man went crazy for Thomas.
Needless to say, Daddy and I were "choo choo'd out" by the end of the day.
We
got to ride on a real train with Thomas at the head. Cam got a window
seat and loved every minute of it...especially the very loud Thomas
music they had piped in.
Enjoying pizza at the picnic table.
Mini-golf with Daddy. Cameron pretty much just picked up the ball and kept throwing it in the hole...Hole in one every time.
Playing with the toy train sets. There were many big boys that came over to play and Cam wasn't nervous or shy at all. He just kept playing and had fun.
Every single time the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song comes on, Cameron walks to the tv, waving at all the characters. This video is so funny because he quickly goes from happily greeting all his cartoon friends to being bossy to Nola. (The video flips bc I was still getting used to my new phone.)
This past weekend was Cam's first birthday party for a friend. It was held at a little gym and he had tons of fun jumping on all the toys, singing at circle time, and eating pizza and cake.
Though I'm behind him, I thought this video was hysterical because you can see him doing all the motions for "Wheels on the Bus"! For those of you who haven't heard the song in a few years, he does, "the babies on the bus go waaaa, waaa, waaa" and "the mommies on the bus go shhh, shhh, shhh".
I have no idea where he learned this, but Cameron just starting doing this funny hand trick...like he's a silly little comedian. He tucks his hand in his sleeve, gives a very serious "oh no!", and then pops his hand out to show he just tricked you, and thinks it's hysterical. I don't know if he learned this at school, but it's too funny!
As you know, Cameron just loves music. The other night we were just goofing around with ITunes and he went crazy for bluegrass...a true southerner!
Summer 2012 has certainly been a busy one...new house, first haircut and other milestones, many trips to the splashpad, and lots of visits with family. Here are just a few glimpses into the wonderful summer we've had.
Cameron is very helpful lately. He helps with sweeping and a few little chores. He loves to help put clothes from the washer into the dryer, and for some reason, LOVES to yell into an empty dryer. He loves the echo his voice makes. The strangest thing is that he says the same thing over and over when he yells into the dryer...maybe one of these days I'll figure out what on earth he's yelling.
Very busy, still yelling into the dryer...with some breaks for kisses!
Cameron is extremely verbal now. He talks all the time and is so interactive. One of his most used words is "please"...what a perfect gentleman. But he really uses it meaning, "more please"...whether it's Backyardigans, cous cous, or playing with a fun toy...he asks a quick "please", while rapidly signing "more".
Impatiently awaiting the chorus to one of his favorite songs...
Finally!
One of the most notable experiences of the summer was Cameron's first haircut...gulp. We took our big boy to a children's salon and got the "1st Haircut Package", which was to include snacks, a lock of hair, and a smiling picture post-haircut! Needless to say, there was not one bit of smiling. Cameron started off in an airplane, but as soon as the hairdresser came his way with the scissors, he wanted OUT. There were lots of tears, but my big boy looks great...though I sure do miss those gorgeous golden locks... :(
Pre-haircut...hmm, I'm not too sure about this.
Nope, definitely do NOT like this.
All done...sweet little haircut.
More Summer fun...
Trip to Discovery Place...
Checking out the fish
Watching for birds with Daddy in the rain forest exhibit
Watertable play!
Stacking rings on a seal
After a fun day at Discovery Place uptown, we took Cameron to the gift shop to choose a toy. Oddly enough, he chose a die-cast school bus. An extremely odd choice, but he loves it.
Cameron enjoyed a visit with his cousins. Lots of fun...and lots of bubbles!
What a gorgeous group!
(Lauren, Bailey, Cameron, Meredith, Daniel, and Chase)
July 4th swim with Grammy and Grampy at their hotel.
What a cool dude!
Fun trip to Grandma and Granddad's...
Cameron always points to his ear, whenever he hears birds, sirens, a dog bark, etc.
Relaxing in his chair.
Laughing at something hysterical during his ride on the swings!
Posing with Grandmom and Granddad
Fun in the pool!
Hanging out with Daddy
Visiting with Ohio cousins, Zella and Ada!
Grandmom and Granddad have a big hill behind their house, so the kids had tons of fun trekking up the hill and then running back down...so sweet!
There is an excellent little park a few miles from us, which not only has a fun playground, but also a splash pad! Cameron LOVES to go to the park and play in the water.
Dad and Donna came by this afternoon to see our new house, and so we could celebrate Donna's birthday. We had beautiful weather and just enjoyed hanging out, grilling, and playing in Cam's Outdoor Oasis!
Chase me, Granddad...chase me!!
Enjoying some of Grandma's birthday ice cream
Tasting some dirty water table water...AFTER Nola drank from it. Yuck!
While playing outside, a truck went over a speedbump too quickly and made a very loud noise that scared Cam. He immediately turned around and demanded Granddad pick him up. It was very sweet.
Scooch over, Grandma...It will probably be easier for you to share your cake with me if we sit close.
Several weeks ago, Colleen came to NC for work and brought Ella along as well. Ella and Cameron had SO much fun together. To say Cameron loves Ella is such an understatement. They are so cute together. He follows her around everywhere...points to her...says "Elllllllllla"...and gives her tons of hugs! Here's a video of a a serious dance party in action....
A sweet hug for Aunt Colleen...
Precious cuties in the ball pit
The other day we were getting ready for work and I was just so taken by how big Cameron is now. He really looks like a little boy instead of a baby. He says, bubbles, vacuum, bye bye, hello, mama, dada, cat, dog, tweet, car, Nola, meow and tons of other words that he'll "repeat" for us.
Being in school, Cameron frequently comes home in a different outfit then he started with. Sometimes it's a milk spill, lunch from head to toe, or he decided to paint himself, rather than the paper, but he'll often go through at least one change of clothes per day. On this particular day, he must have ran out of spares, so his teachers went to the "spare clothes" pile. This was the outfit he ended up in......................seriously? It was hysterical and I had to get a picture of this absurdity.
Last night several of my Aunts and Uncles came down on their way to Atlanta for my cousin's wedding. While it was way too short, it was so wonderful to get to spend a little bit of time with them. We haven't seen them since I was pregnant with Cameron, so it was so nice for him to get to meet them for the first time.
Cameron was a little shy at first, but by the end of the evening, he was handing out great big hugs and blowing kisses to everyone. What a nice evening.
Last Saturday we had a wonderful morning at Freedom Park. We took a walk around the lake and got to see many many dogs, tiny baby ducks, and even some professional tree climbers...yes. After our walk, Cameron had a picnic lunch and just played. Cameron had his first "official successful peanut butter and jelly sandwich." We've attempted a few bites here and there in the past, but it's never gone well, however this time, Cameron actually ate almost an entire half of the sandwich.
Jelly man coming my way...
Nothing like a PBJ-double-sneezer in the camerawoman's face...
